The Union Public Service Commission conducts the Civil Services Examination every year to recruit candidates into various prestigious All India and Central Civil Services.

Eligibility Criteria


Educational Qualification

  • Candidates must hold a Bachelor’s Degree from a recognized university.
  • Final year students can also apply (subject to conditions).

Age Limit

  • Minimum Age: 21 Years
  • Maximum Age: 32 Years

Age relaxation is applicable for SC/ST/OBC and other reserved categories as per Government rules.


Application Fee


  • General/OBC: ₹100/-
  • SC/ST/Female/PwBD: Exempted
  • Payment can be made online via debit card, credit card, UPI, or net banking.

Selection Process


The selection process consists of three stages:

1️⃣ Preliminary Examination

  • Objective type (MCQ)
  • Two papers: General Studies & CSAT
  • Qualifying in nature for Mains

2️⃣ Main Examination

  • Descriptive written examination
  • 9 papers including Essay, GS, and Optional subjects

3️⃣ Personality Test (Interview)

  1. Conducted by UPSC board members
  2. Final merit list prepared based on Mains + Interview marks
