MTS Selection Process
Before diving into the admit card details, it is vital to understand the structure of the exam you are appearing for. The selection is divided into two distinct stages:
एडमिट कार्ड की जानकारी में जाने से पहले, यह समझना अत्यंत आवश्यक है कि आप जिस परीक्षा में शामिल हो रहे हैं, उसकी संरचना क्या है। चयन प्रक्रिया दो अलग-अलग चरणों में विभाजित है:
- Stage 1: Written Examination (70 Marks): This is an OMR-based objective test with a duration of 1.5 hours. It includes questions on General Knowledge, Current Affairs, General English, Class VIII Mathematics, and an Assamese language proficiency segment (20 marks).
- Stage 2: Viva-Voce (20 Marks): Candidates are shortlisted in a 1:5 ratio based on their written test performance. A minimum of 60% (12 out of 20 marks) is required to qualify the interview.
The Admit Card is strictly required for both stages of this process.

- Locate the Notification: Look for the link titled "Download Admit Card for Direct Recruitment of Multi-Tasking Staff (MTS)".
- Enter Credentials: You will need to provide your Registration Code (generated during the application phase) and your Date of Birth to log in.
- Verify Information: Once the admit card is displayed, carefully check your name, photograph, exam venue, and reporting time.
- Print the Document: Download and print at least two copies on A4 paper. Digital copies on smartphones will not be accepted at the gate.
Important Documents To Carry
On the day of the examination, the Admit Card alone is not enough. You must also carry:
- Photo ID Proof: A valid government-issued ID such as an Aadhaar Card, PAN Card, Voter ID, or Passport.
- Passport Size Photographs: It is advisable to keep 2-3 recent photos similar to the one uploaded in the application.
- Caste/Disability Certificates: While not always required at the written test stage, candidates belonging to OBC/MOBC, SC, ST, or PwBD categories should keep these ready for subsequent verification stages.
Important Instructions of Examination Day
The Gauhati High Court maintains strict discipline during its recruitment drives. Candidates should keep the following rules in mind:
- Reporting Time: Arrive at the exam center at least 60 minutes before the start of the test to complete security frisking and biometric verification.
- Prohibited Items: Electronic gadgets like mobile phones, calculators, smartwatches, and Bluetooth devices are strictly banned inside the hall.
- Assamese Language Qualifying Mark: Pay special attention to the Assamese segment. You must score at least 8 out of 20 marks to qualify the written test. If you fail this segment, your marks in other subjects will not be considered for the merit list.
- Provisional Admission: Possession of an admit card does not guarantee employment. Your candidature is purely provisional and subject to verification of your Class VIII educational qualification.
Key Rules Regarding Eligibility
The High Court has explicitly stated that candidates who have passed HSSLC (Class 12) or higher are not eligible for this post. If it is discovered at any stage—even after the admit card is issued—that a candidate has suppressed higher educational information, their candidature will be cancelled immediately and they may face criminal prosecution.
Final Selection Criteria
The final merit list will be prepared based on the grand total of marks obtained in the Written Test (70 Marks) and the Viva-Voce (20 Marks). In the event of a tie in marks, the candidate with higher marks in the written exam will be given preference. If the tie persists, the candidate senior in age will be selected.
