SSC CHSL 2026 Educational Qualification
The minimum educational qualification for most SSC CHSL posts is 12th Standard or equivalent examination from a recognized Board or University.
However, there is an important post-specific condition. Candidates applying for DEO/DEO Grade A in the Ministry of Consumer Affairs, Food & Public Distribution, Staff Selection Commission and Ministry of Culture must have passed Class 12 in the Science stream with Mathematics as a subject from a recognized Board or equivalent.
For LDC/JSA and other DEO/DEO Grade A posts covered under the general qualification condition, passing Class 12 or an equivalent examination is required.
Candidates who are appearing for their Class 12 examination may also apply, but they must obtain the required educational qualification on or before 7 October 2026.

SSC CHSL Application Fee
The application fee for SSC CHSL 2026 is ₹100.
Women candidates and eligible candidates belonging to SC, ST, PwBD and Ex-Servicemen categories are exempted from paying the application fee.

SSC CHSL 2026 Application Form – How to Apply
Candidates have to submit their application online through the new SSC website or the mySSC mobile application. Candidates who have not generated an OTR on the new SSC website must complete the One-Time Registration before applying for CHSL 2026.
The old OTR created on the previous SSC website will not be functional on the new website. Once an OTR is successfully generated on the new website, it remains valid for examinations conducted through that website.

3. Verify your mobile number and email ID.
4. Login using your Registration Number and password.
5. Open the Combined Higher Secondary (10+2) Level Examination 2026 application.

SSC CHSL 2026 Application Correction
SSC will provide a correction facility from 14 October 2026 to 16 October 2026.
Eligible candidates can modify and resubmit their application during this window. The correction facility can be used two times.
The correction charges are:
- First correction: ₹200
- Second correction: ₹500
These correction charges apply irrespective of the candidate's gender or category. The correction fee is non-refundable.

The SSC CHSL 2026 examination will be conducted in two tiers: Tier-I and Tier-II.

SSC CHSL Tier-I Syllabus
The English section covers topics such as error detection, fill in the blanks, synonyms, antonyms, spelling, idioms and phrases, one-word substitution, sentence improvement, active/passive voice, direct and indirect narration, sentence rearrangement, cloze test and comprehension.
General Intelligence includes verbal and non-verbal reasoning, analogy, classification, series, coding-decoding, Venn diagrams, space orientation, embedded figures, problem solving, critical thinking and related topics.
Quantitative Aptitude includes number systems, percentages, ratio and proportion, averages, interest, profit and loss, discount, partnership, mixture and allegation, time and distance, time and work, algebra, geometry, mensuration, trigonometry and statistical charts.
General Awareness covers current events, everyday observations and general knowledge relating to India and neighbouring countries, including history, culture, geography, economic matters, general policy and scientific research.
SSC CHSL Tier-II Exam Pattern
Tier-II is conducted in two sessions on the same day.
Session-I includes:
- Section-I: Mathematical Abilities and Reasoning & General Intelligence
- Section-II: English Language & Comprehension and General Awareness
- Section-III: Computer Knowledge Test
Session-II includes:
- Section-IV: Skill Test/Typing Test
Section-I and Section-II are each allotted one hour, while the Computer Knowledge Test is conducted for 15 minutes. Session-I therefore has a total duration of 2 hours 15 minutes. After Session-I, candidates get a break for re-registration before Session-II.
Tier-II has 1 mark negative marking for each wrong answer in Sections I, II and III. Section-III, the Computer Knowledge Test, is mandatory but qualifying in nature. Skill/Typing Test is also qualifying in nature.
SSC CHSL Typing Test and Skill Test
Candidates selected for DEO posts have to qualify the prescribed Skill Test. For specified DEO/DEO Grade A posts, the required data-entry speed is 15,000 key depressions per hour, while for other DEO/DEO Grade A posts it is 8,000 key depressions per hour. The relevant skill test is conducted for 15 minutes.
For LDC/JSA posts, candidates can choose either Hindi or English as their typing-test medium.
The required typing speed is:
- English: 35 words per minute
- Hindi: 30 words per minute
The typing test is normally conducted for 10 minutes. Candidates opting for Hindi typing for LDC/JSA must use Mangal Font.
SSC CHSL 2026 Selection Process
The selection process involves performance in Tier-I followed by Tier-II for candidates who qualify the required stage.
The minimum qualifying percentage for Tier-I and Sections I, II and III of Tier-II is:
- UR: 30%
- OBC/EWS: 25%
- All other categories: 20%
Candidates are shortlisted for Tier-II based on their Tier-I performance, using normalized scores where applicable.
For final selection, the merit list is prepared based on the aggregate marks obtained in Section-I and Section-II of Tier-II, subject to qualifying Sections III and IV. Computer Knowledge and Skill/Typing Tests are qualifying in nature, but candidates must qualify the applicable sections.

Candidates must be very careful while selecting their preferred posts and departments.
A candidate will not be considered for a particular post or department if that option has not been indicated. Once submitted, the post preference is treated as final and irreversible.
Final allocation is based on merit along with the candidate's post preferences. Therefore, candidates should consider the nature of the post and any specific physical, medical or educational requirements before selecting their preferences.
Document Verification
Document Verification is conducted by the concerned User Ministries, Departments or Organizations after the final result.
